The Walking Taco is no longer operating at our facility. We had an agreement with them for the season, with the possibility of them remaining open all year, if the fit was right for them and for us. As a club we were shocked and disappointed by their sudden departure. Although frustrated we wished them well on their new business venture.

The owner of the Walking Taco has since decided to slander our club and employees on social media. Over the course of the season we had numerous disagreements regarding menus, hours of operation, and the general maintenance and appearance of the kitchen. Unfortunately this resulted in a negative atmosphere and working environment.

Elmwood CC was contacted by Springfield curling club, which is where the Walking Taco was planning on relocating to. As a club we deliberated as to what to say, and ultimately decided to inform them that we enjoyed their food, but had some concerns throughout the season with posting inappropriate material on social media, as well as broken equipment, the general state of the kitchen, and the disregard for safety measures within the kitchen. They appreciated our honesty and feedback to them.

Elmwood CC has since been approached by other kitchen operators about next season; we will move to improve our vetting of potential kitchen services in order to provide all our curlers with the best possible kitchen and curling facility.
